The Fool

The Fool is regarded as card ‘zero’ in the Major Arcana of Tarot Cards, this is because it is The Fool who has different encounters on his journeys. These encounters make up the other twenty-one cards in the Major Arcana.

The Story behind The Fool

The Fool does not know where he is travelling, but he always seems to be on the move. A few things mean a great deal to him, and he takes these with him on his journey. He thrives off the adventure, but he is often so focussed on the unknown that he doesn’t realise when danger is in front of him. He is not worried about what others think, only what he thinks. He must learn to stop daydreaming and be aware of his surroundings.

Meaning of The Fool Tarot Card

The Fool is all about new beginnings and starting something different. Everybody needs to start somewhere, and you can’t have a journey without making the first step! The Fool initiates everything and sets the wheels in motion. The Fool starts from scratch, so far uninfluenced by everything else. What other people say do not affect him, possibly because he is fresh to the world and what it has to offer, both the good and the bad.

Although he’ll certainly make mistakes, the knowledge and experience that he will gain from these mistakes will be invaluable. As long as it feels right, he’ll do it, even if other people will look at his actions in disbelief. Whatever he is, whatever he lacks, he completely trusts in the decisions that he makes. His childlike-innocence also gives him some good traits such as being not being scared or intimidated by others and a complete reliance on himself and his own instincts. The Fool represents a neutral start in life.

The Magician

The Magician is regarded as the first card in the Major Arcana of Tarot Cards, which comprises of twenty-two cards in total.

The Story behind The Magician

Whilst The Fool is travelling, he bumps into The Magician. The Magician has something very alluring and mysterious about him, and has The Fool almost in a trance of awe. The Magician does not struggle to tempt the fool into handing over his possessions, and then ‘magically’ reveals them. The Fool cannot believe his eyes. Does the magician see what others can’t, or has he just revealed what was under their eyes the whole time?
