The World

The World is regarded as the twenty-first card in the Major Arcana of Tarot Cards, which comprises of twenty-two cards in total.

The Story behind The World

Ironically, The Fool ends up exactly where he started. Once again he is at the edge of the cliff that he didn’t see when he started his journey. No longer is he foolish. He realises that everything works in harmony, particularly within oneself, and that you must give room to all of the elements that make a person who they are. He smiles and steps off the edge. Instead of falling, he is lifted high into the air, so high that he can see the entire world. He is at the end of his journey, ready to begin another.

Meaning of The World Tarot Card

The World Tarot Card represents the final step of your journey. It is important to remember, as the charioteer told The Fool in The Chariot Card story, that victory is just the beginning. You have overcome all the darkness and negativity, done a great deal of soul-searching, and finally you have reached the end of the road. After this road there will be another one, but you can use all of the wisdom you have gained to help you on your new journey.

The World shows you that you are in control, everything within you is working in unison. It’s a synergy – the whole is greater than the sum of all its parts. Things are working together rather than against each other. The journey is never-ending, and as the Wheel of Fortune Card demonstrated, everything goes full-circle. This card shows you that you have achieved everything that you want to achieve, but there is always another journey to be undertaken. The more wisdom, knowledge and experience you have, the easier the journey will be.
